zaafaran

premiere, 16 April, 2016 - BIPOD-Beirut international Platform of Dance

Zaafaran is based on the idea of sacrifice; a notion very integrated in both our eastern cultures. This contemporary creation takes place on a Persian Carpet, a rich ground that reminisces a past, no longer present. In 2015, Omar Rajeh was invited to Tehran to choreograph a piece for MaHa.

MaHa started in 2013 in Tehran where Dance is forbidden and frowned upon. Without the presence of a single dance academy and from various backgrounds, it started out of a need that lead to the expression of the body, survival and creation.
